Vance-Andra Without, The River City or the Caravan Without End
They say that one day that the billowing dust clouds of Vance-Andra will stretch right around the great bowl of the Glasslands Desert, eventually joining itself head to tail like the great dragon sigils on the shields of The Howling Ones. This is not a fixed location, not an area of land per se, but still large enough of a phenomena to warrant a mention in the gazeteer. Vance-Andra is living moving river, roughly sixty-five miles long and half a mile to a mile wide in places, made up of a seemingly endless caravan of huge animal mounted wanderers of all ancestries. The edges made up of loose animals with wagons and howdah, the centre made up of larger creatures (there are even massive oversized Oar-forged with multiple faces and gigantic shields), with more impressive structures and linking walkways, the homes and businesses of the River City built atop this parade of strange animals, endlessly walking and huddled together covered with the equivalent of a tented city or vast bazaar, spotted with watch-towers like giant howdah mounted seige engines. Tired or injured animals are lifted up on hoists and animals seem to give birth, or are milked and fed (food being brought in from the outside) whilst on the move. Animals too injured to progress are lifted up and butchered, with way made for newer animals and their owners. Often the great host moves slowly through the wilderness (it might take nearly a full day/20+ hours to pass you and your camp). Your status within the caravan is based on how far from the edge of the caravan you are positioned. The outer edges are defended by warriors that carry long pikes, making the city appear as a gigantic slow moving dust shrouded millipede.
Somewhere in its vastness is a pyramid shaped yurt/howdah in which sits “the elder” who holds many secrets about The Vorn (perhaps an aged member of the elephant-folk clans). This pyramid and the space within is the House of Doors/Wroth Deneid, a small standalone room built with four doors and parchment/paper walls which when inside is in actuality a magically larger tower called Vance-Andra Within, a tower with windows that each look out upon different cities across the wider world.
